1. New Mill Rate Set In Bridgeport: What's The New Tax Rate? (patch.com) — Bridgeport residents will see a sharply lower property tax rate after the City Council approved a new budget that cuts the mill rate by 40 percent while boosting funding for public schools, libraries, and neighborhood services. City leaders call it a historic shift made possible by strong grand list growth, with added tax relief for seniors and veterans and free park stickers for residents.
2. Bridgeport Fire Chief Lance Edwards involved in crash of city-owned SUV, officials say (ctpost.com) — Bridgeport’s fire chief, Lance Edwards, was recently involved in a single-vehicle crash while driving his city-owned SUV in Stratford, and city officials say he followed required reporting protocols. No other cars were involved, he returned to duty the next workday, and Stratford police have not yet released an incident report. City communications staff say Edwards will not be commenting for now.
3. Stratford man's murder case in fatal Bridgeport shootout heads to jury (ctpost.com) — Jurors are beginning deliberations in the murder trial stemming from a deadly 2022 gunfight near the former Murphy’s Law bar in downtown Bridgeport. Prosecutors argue the Stratford defendant fired first, while the defense says the chaotic scene and self-defense claims leave reasonable doubt. The outcome will help close a painful chapter for those affected by the Fairfield Avenue shooting.
4. Norwalk Police Arrest Driver in Fatal Hit-And-Run Crash (doingitlocal.com) — A Bridgeport resident has been arrested in connection with a fatal November 2025 hit-and-run in Norwalk that killed a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
