BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 37-year-old Bridgeport man has been sentenced to five years in federal prison after pleading guilty to a drug-related firearm offense, U.S. Attorney David X. Sullivan announced.
Fedrick George Chapman was sentenced June 17 by U.S. District Judge Stefan R. Underhill in New Haven to 60 months in prison, followed by two years of supervised release, Sullivan said.
According to court documents and statements made in court, Chapman mailed at least eight packages containing controlled substances to addresses in Naples and Fort Myers, Florida, between December 2023 and August 2024. Authorities said a court-authorized search of a package mailed by Chapman on Aug. 20, 2024, found about 10 grams of fentanyl.
A search of Chapman's Bridgeport home and vehicle on Aug. 27, 2024, uncovered a loaded .380-caliber handgun, about 50 grams of fentanyl, 486 methamphetamine pills, about 30 grams of cocaine, about four kilograms of marijuana and $76,262 in cash, according to court documents. Chapman was arrested on state charges that day.
Federal prosecutors later adopted the case. Chapman pleaded guilty on Sept. 29, 2025, to possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
Chapman, who remains free on a $100,000 bond, is scheduled to report to prison on Aug. 12.
The U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Connecticut State Police, Bridgeport Police Department and Shelton Police Department investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kenneth L. Gresham prosecuted it.
Federal officials said the case is part of Operation Take Back America, a U.S. Department of Justice initiative targeting drug trafficking, transnational criminal organizations, illegal immigration and violent crime.
