Motorcyclist, Passenger Seriously Injured In Bridgeport Crash: Police

The two-vehicle crash occurred Sunday evening, according to authorities.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A motorcyclist and a passenger, both Bridgeport residents, were seriously injured Sunday evening when the bike they were riding collided with an SUV in Bridgeport, according to authorities.

The two male victims were taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center following the 6:40 p.m. crash, and both are listed in critical but stable condition.

Both were unresponsive after the crash, authorities said. The driver of the SUV was not injured.

According to Bridgeport Police Sgt. Darryl Wilson, the crash occurred near the intersection of Iranistan and Laurel avenues.

"Upon arrival, Bridgeport police observed Bridgeport Fire Engine 3 personnel was rendering aid to two adult males lying on the sidewalk," Wilson said in a statement.

"Based on the preliminary investigation, it was determined that a 36-year-old Bridgeport resident was operating a motorcycle and traveling southbound on Iranistan Avenue with a 30-year-old Bridgeport resident riding as a passenger," Wilson added. "As the motorcycle proceeded through the intersection of Iranistan Avenue and Laurel Avenue, it collided with an SUV operated by a 24-year-old Ansonia resident."

The SUV driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, which is being conducted by the Bridgeport Police Traffic Division, Wilson said.
