Bridgeport Cops Arrest 2 After Pursuit Of Reported Stolen Vehicle Into Trumbull

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Bridgeport police arrested two 19-year-old men Sunday after pursuing a reported stolen vehicle from Bridgeport into Trumbull following an earlier gunfire investigation.

Police said officers received a ShotSpotter alert at about 2:31 p.m. June 29 indicating eight rounds had been fired in the 450 block of Trumbull Avenue. Investigators with the Bridgeport Police Fusion Center reviewed video footage and identified a vehicle they said was involved in the incident.

Police determined the vehicle had been reported stolen in North Branford on June 23.

At about 7:35 p.m., members of the Bridgeport Police Task Force and a K9 officer spotted the vehicle near North Avenue and Lindley Street, police said. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled, leading police on a pursuit through Bridgeport, onto Route 8 and into Trumbull.

According to police, the pursuit ended on Booth Hill Road in Trumbull after the vehicle became disabled. Multiple occupants fled on foot, prompting Bridgeport police, Trumbull police, Connecticut State Police and other assisting agencies to establish a perimeter and search the area.

Police said officers arrested Giovanni Jesus Gonzalez, 19, of Bridgeport, after finding him attempting to hide in a garage on Tanager Lane in Trumbull.

Gonzalez was charged with:

• Engaging police in pursuit
• First-degree reckless endangerment
• Third-degree burglary
• Interfering with officers/resisting

Police later arrested Kayano "Lotti" Gordon, 19, also of Bridgeport, after Trumbull officers saw him leaving the area on a bicycle. Investigators said Gordon had entered a nearby property and taken the bicycle while attempting to flee.

Gordon was charged with:

• Sixth-degree larceny
• Third-degree burglary
• First-degree reckless endangerment
• Engaging police in pursuit
• Larceny of a motor vehicle, first offense

The investigation remains active, and additional charges may be filed, according to police.

"The Bridgeport Police Department extends its appreciation to the FBI, Connecticut State Police, Trumbull Police Department, and Trumbull volunteer fire departments for their assistance and support during this incident," said Sgt. Michael Paoletti in a statement. "The coordinated response included multiple law enforcement resources, including K9 units, drones, and aviation support."
