1. New waterfront apartments fuel affordability debate in CT city. 'You really need a mix of housing,' resident (courant.com) — New luxury and income-restricted apartments at The August on Bridgeport's Steelpointe Harbor are reshaping the East Side waterfront and sparking debate over who can afford to live there. Residents, activists and city leaders wrestle with whether these units, marketed as "affordable," truly match local incomes and needs, and how longtime Black and Latino neighborhoods will share in the promised economic growth.
   

2. 2 people grazed by gunfire on Trumbull Avenue in Bridgeport (wtnh.com) — Early Saturday, two people were grazed by bullets on Trumbull Avenue in Bridgeport, but both declined hospital transport and are expected to be okay. Police recovered shell casings near Yaremich Drive and 455 Trumbull Avenue, and Bridgeport detectives are asking anyone with information about the gunfire to contact Detective Tim Leonard at 203-581-5253.
   

3. Bridgeport Police Hispanic Society hosts car and bike show to promote community bonds (wtnh.com) — Bridgeport residents just saw their police Hispanic Society host its second annual car and bike show, aimed at strengthening trust and celebrating the city's diverse culture. Organizers are using the event's proceeds to launch the first-ever Bridgeport Police History Museum, preserving local officers' stories for future generations while bringing neighbors together with music, food, raffles, and local vendors.
   

4. CT companies have 80,000 jobs open: Electric Boat, Amazon, Walmart and more are hiring (nhregister.com) — Major employers with operations in Bridgeport, including Sikorsky's local facilities and M&T Bank's regional headquarters, are among companies filling more than 80,000 open jobs statewide. From hospital roles at Yale New Haven Health to manufacturing, banking and retail positions, Bridgeport residents can tap a wide range of opportunities, some with on-site job fairs and clear paths for advancement.
   

5. Connecticut Is Rolling Out AI-Powered School Bus Cameras (bgr.com) — Bridgeport is highlighted in a study showing nearly 10,000 illegal passes of stopped school buses in just six months, underscoring how serious the problem is in your city. That data is helping drive interest in AI-powered school bus cameras like those being rolled out in Vernon, where officials say most first-time violators never reoffend after getting fined.
