Hazmat Situation Closes Roads In Bridgeport: Police

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A chlorine truck fire in the 80 block of Commercial Street in Bridgeport on Monday has authorities dealing with a possible hazardous material situation that has closed several streets, according to authorities.

The fire was reported at about 11:30 a.m., and Bridgeport police, firefighters, fire marshals, and representatives from the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection have responded to the scene.

Additionally, state Department of Transportation and the Fairfield County Hazmat team have also responded.

No injuries have been reported, but 12 people from the area have been evacuated.
