BRIDGEPORT, CT — Four Bridgeport voting districts have new polling places for the Nov. 3 election, the Health Department holds a flu clinic at the Beardsley Branch Library and city firefighters bring a fire truck to the main library for a fire safety storytime.

Here are five things to know about life around Bridgeport this week:

1. New Polling Places In 4 Districts
When: Early voting and same-day registration start Monday, Oct. 19; Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3
Where: Margaret E. Morton Government Center, 999 Broad St.
What to know: Voters in four districts have new polling places for Nov. 3, according to the Registrar of Voters: District 127-03 moves from John Winthrop School to Discovery Interdistrict Magnet School, 4510 Park Ave. (temporary); Districts 130-01 and 130-02 move from Bassick High School to Cesar Batalla School, 606 Howard Ave.; and District 130-04 moves from Cesar Batalla School to Roosevelt School, 680 Park Ave. Early voting and same-day registration begin Oct. 19 at the Morton Government Center.

2. Flu Shot Clinic At Beardsley Branch Library
When: Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1 to 3 p.m.
Where: Beardsley Branch Library, community room, 2536 East Main St.
What to know: The Bridgeport Health Department holds a flu shot clinic at the library; bring a photo ID and insurance card, according to the library. More information: 203-332-0025.

3. Touch-A-Truck Fire Safety Storytime
When: Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Where: Burroughs-Saden Main Library, Children's Room, 925 Broad St.
What to know: Bridgeport firefighters visit for a Fire Prevention Month storytime and Touch-A-Truck, where children ages 3 to 12 can explore a fire truck, meet firefighters and learn fire safety tips, according to the library. Caregivers must stay in the Children's Room.

4. Council Budget, Contracts Committees Meet
When: Budget and Appropriations: Tuesday, Oct. 13, 6 p.m.; Contracts: Wednesday, Oct. 14, 6 p.m.
Where: Bridgeport City Hall, 45 Lyon Terrace
What to know: Two City Council committees are scheduled to meet at City Hall, according to the city calendar. As of Thursday, Oct. 8, no agendas had been posted.

5. Post Office Square Leases, Golden Hill Street Deal In Committee
When: Referred by the City Council on Oct. 5
Where: Bridgeport City Hall, 45 Lyon Terrace
What to know: The council sent two leases of portions of Post Office Square, 1136-1160 Main St., and a land development agreement for 157 and 171 Golden Hill St. to its Economic and Community Development and Environment Committee, according to the Oct. 5 agenda. The committee also received a proposed sale of an easement to the state Department of Transportation for a rail project, "Track Improvement Mobility Enhancement 1."
