BRIDGEPORT, CT — Two Bridgeport officials will participate in a MOMbies fundraiser at Brewport in Bridgeport on Sunday, Oct. 18, to support metastatic breast cancer research.
Rosina Negron, Bridgeport's deputy building official, and Rebecca Hasiotis, a Bridgeport Public Schools teacher at Read Elementary School, are participating in the event.
The MOMbies are a group of 50 local mothers who dress as zombies and perform dances each October to raise awareness and money for metastatic breast cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Now in their 11th year, the MOMbies have raised $1.3 million for metastatic breast cancer research.
The Oct. 18 event at Brewport will feature three performances, scheduled for 4 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Thirty percent of pizza and drink purchases during the event will benefit the fundraising effort. Jewelry retailer Kendra Scott will also host a pop-up shopping event.
The fundraiser is open to families and community members interested in supporting the organization and its research efforts.
For a preview of the group's performances, watch the MOMbies video on YouTube.
