Bridgeport Man Indicted Following Shooting At Local Strip Club: Feds

The defendant pleaded not guilty after prosecutors alleged he shot an employee during an altercation.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 38-year-old Bridgeport man has been indicted on a federal ammunition possession charge stemming from the shooting of an employee at a Main Street gentlemen's club earlier this year, federal authorities announced.

Jonathan Bohannon is charged with unlawful possession of ammunition by a felon in connection with a Jan. 1 shooting at Mystique Gentleman's Club in Bridgeport, according to U.S. Attorney David X. Sullivan, FBI New Haven Division Special Agent in Charge P.J. O'Brien and Bridgeport Police Chief Roderick Porter.

According to court documents and statements made in court, Bohannon allegedly shot a club employee during the early morning hours of Jan. 1, 2026, following an altercation between the two earlier that night.

Investigators recovered one shell casing at the shooting scene. The bullet remains lodged in the victim, authorities said.

Federal prosecutors said Bohannon has a criminal history that includes a state felony drug conviction and federal convictions for narcotics trafficking and firearms offenses.

Bohannon previously was sentenced to 160 months in federal prison for drug and gun offenses. He was released from federal custody in September 2025.

A federal grand jury in Bridgeport returned the indictment Oct. 8. Bohannon, who has been held in state custody since May, appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Thomas O. Farrish in Hartford on Oct. 21 and pleaded not guilty.

The federal ammunition charge carries a maximum prison sentence of 15 years.

Bohannon also is on federal supervised release and could face additional penalties if he is found to have violated the conditions of his release.

The investigation is being conducted by the FBI Bridgeport Safe Streets Task Force and the Bridgeport Police Department. The task force includes personnel from the FBI, Connecticut State Police and police departments in Bridgeport, Fairfield, Norwalk, Trumbull and Westport.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Rahul Kale is prosecuting the case.

Sullivan emphasized that an indictment is not evidence of guilt. The charge is an allegation, and Bohannon is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
