Bicyclist Seriously Injured During Assault, Robbery: Milford PD

Police say the victim was robbed of $3,000 in cash and three arrests were made including two Bridgeport residents.

MILFORD, CT — A bicyclist suffered serious injuries after being assaulted and robbed in the early morning hours of Sept. 27, police said. The victim was robbed of $3,000 in cash, police said.

On Sept. 27, at 2 a.m., the Milford Police Department investigated a robbery that occurred on the one-way section of Buckingham Avenue near New Haven Avenue. The victim was riding his bicycle when he was approached by individuals in a motor vehicle. The victim was knocked off of his bicycle and hospitalized after suffering serious physical injuries, police said. Personal items and $3,000 cash were stolen from the victim during the robbery, police said.

On Oct. 9, a Milford Police Officer conducted a self-initiated motor vehicle stop of the suspect vehicle from the above mentioned incident, police said. After an investigation, 3 individuals were later arrested for committing this robbery.

Jacob Marrero, 19, of Grant Street, Bridgeport, was arrested on Dec. 5 and charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Assault 1st Degree, Larceny 2nd Degree and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery 2nd Degree. Marrero was released on a Promise to Appear in Milford Court on January 2, 2019.

Carlos Marrero, 25, of Colony Street, Bridgeport, was arrested on Oct. 15, 2018, and charged with Robbery 2nd Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Larceny 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree and Driving the Wrong Way on a One Way Highway, police said. Carlos Marrero has already appeared in court and is scheduled to appear again on Dec. 12, 2018. The third individual arrested was a juvenile.
