Bridgeport Awarded Remediation Grant
The grant will help study a remediation project in the city.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — The Bridgeport Economic Development Corporation was awarded a $200,000 state grant to help implement a remediation and development project at the Bridgeport Brass Project area.
The area is about a third of a mile from the city's central business district and intermodal center.
“Connecticut continues to be a national leader in brownfield remediation and redevelopment,” said Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Catherine Smith. “Thanks to the innovative new programs developed under Governor Malloy’s leadership, six communities can take the first steps toward cleaning up and reactivating polluted sites in their municipalities.”

Grants were also awarded in Ansonia, Naugatuck, New Milford and Thompson.
“Blighted properties are an eyesore in neighborhoods and drive down property values,” Governor Dannel Malloy said. “By making investments in these scarred, abandoned, and otherwise unusable parcels of land, we can attract many more times that amount back in private investments while also making communities more attractive to business and job growth.”
