1 Person, Several Pets Injured 2-Alarm Bridgeport Fire: UPDATE
The fire was called in Tuesday morning on Lafayette and Atlantic streets. Update
BRIDGEPORT, CT — Bridgeport firefighters extinguished a two-alarm fire Tuesday morning near Lafayette and Atlantic streets, in which one person and several pets were injured, according to authorities.
"On-scene reports indicated one party was rescued and transported to a local hospital with an unknown extent of injuries," said Scott Appleby, the city's director of Emergency Management. "Several pets were injured as well in the fire."
The blaze was called in at the multi-unit residential building at about 10:45 a.m. Fire was visible as firefighters arrived, which prompted the call for the second alarm.

A total of 26 were displaced by the fire, Appleby said.
Firefighters from the Stratford and Fairfield fire departments assisted with city coverage once the second alarm was called in.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
