Bridgeport Man Arrested On Illegal Weapons Charges: Police

The suspect is a convicted felon, according to authorities, who is accused of stealing a handgun.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 32-year-old Bridgeport man was arrested last week on illegal firearms charges, after police found a stolen handgun in his possession, according to authorities.

Boysie Vega was arrested on Thursday after two officers were sent to a location on Bridgeport's East Side in response to an undisclosed incident.

During the investigation, officers recovered a Smith and Wesson 9mm firearm with a loaded seventeen-round magazine in Vega's possession.

"Further investigation revealed that the firearm had been reported stolen, and Vega, a convicted felon, was illegally in possession of the firearm," wrote Scott Appleby, Bridgeport's director of Emergency Management, in a statement.

  • Criminal possession of a firearm
  • Carrying a pistol without a permit
  • Illegal Possession of a High-capacity magazine

  • Violation of a protective order (4 counts)

He is being held in lieu of bail of $150,000, and is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on April 2.
