Bridgeport Man Arrested For Webster Bank Robbery Last Week: Milford Police
BREAKING: Police say tips from the public helped lead to the suspect's identity and arrest.
MILFORD, CT — Police say the man accused of robbing Webster Bank last week in Milford allegedly tried to elude police capture by barricading himself inside a hotel room in Stratford, police said. Police said the public helped in identifying the suspect, which led to his arrest.
On March 23 the Webster Bank, 314 Merwin Avenue, Milford was robbed, police said. Video surveillance pictures of the robbery suspect were distributed to the media after the robbery and numerous members of the public were able to identify the suspect as Robert Doyle, 32, of East Main Street, Bridgeport, police said.
An arrest warrant was obtained and Doyle was located staying at a hotel in Stratford, police said. Doyle barricaded himself in a room with an accomplice who tried fleeing by jumping from a second floor balcony but was quickly apprehended by Stratford Police, police said. Doyle was subsequently talked from the hotel room and placed under arrest, police said.

Doyle was held on a $150,000 bond. Police thanked everyone who helped with the identity of the bank robbery suspect.
