Bridgeport Man Charged In Connection With Stamford Shooting, Robbery
Stamford police said they arrested a 37-year-old man on Tuesday afternoon.
STAMFORD, CT — After a lengthy investigation, a Bridgeport man has been charged in connection with a robbery and shooting that left another man severely injured in February, according to the Stamford Police Department.
Jose Enrique Montanez, 37, was arrested on a warrant in Stamford on April 4 that charged him with first-degree assault, first-degree robbery, criminal possession of a firearm and conspiracy, police said in a news release.
Montanez is currently being held on a $900,000 bond.

On Feb. 9 during the early morning hours, the SPD's patrol division responded to the rear driveway in the 140 block of Henry Street in Stamford on a report of a man who was shot in the stomach during a botched robbery, police said.
The man was taken to Stamford Hospital where he spent several days in the Intensive Care Unit; he's still recovering from his injuries, police noted.

One of the three suspects involved was identified as Montanez, who police said was the shooter. Investigators also identified the car used during the robbery, and an arrest warrant was developed.
Investigators tracked down Montanez not far from where the robbery and shooting occurred Thursday afternoon and took him into custody with the help of the SPD's Special Response Team and Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit, police said.
