Bridgeport Man Hit Pedestrian, Fled: Report

A city man was sentenced in a 2016 hit-and-run case.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A city man was sentenced to 10 years in prison suspended after 51 months for a fatal hit-and-run crash in 2016, according to The Connecticut Post. Pearak Pha, 28, of Capitol Avenue, pleaded guilty to misconduct with a motor vehicle and felony evading.

Prosecutors had argued for Pha to spend five years in prison as he left an elderly man in the street to die then evaded authorities for three months. In the crash, Gaspar Esteves, 81, was standing next to his pickup outside and Arlington Street and was struck by a Volkswagen sedan.
