Bridgeport Man Sentenced In Crash That Killed A 78-Year-Old: Report

Patricia Stephenson was killed in July 2020 when she was struck by a motorcycle driven by Rhashaun Houser, according to prosecutors.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Rhashaun Houser, a 35-year-old Bridgeport resident, was sentenced to four and a half years in prison Tuesday in connection with the vehicular killing of 78-year-old Patricia Stephenson in July 2020, reported the Connecticut Post.

Houser had been drinking and smoking marijuana before the crash, according to prosecutors, and had pleaded no contest to second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle under the influence, according to the publication.

The crash occurred on July 9, 2020, at the intersection of State Street and Park Avenue in Bridgeport, and according to authorities, the motorcycle Houser was riding at the time of the crash dragged Stephenson for several feet before she was dislodged in the street.

Superior Court Judge Tracy Lee Dayton sentenced Houser to 10 years in prison, suspended after he serves four and a half years, followed by five years of supervised release and 100 hours of community service.
