Bridgeport Man Sentenced for Stolen Gun, Silencer Possession
Police found the weapon after a woman reported that the Bridgeport man had raped her while pointing a gun to her head.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A Bridgeport man will spend the next six years in prison after he was convicted of possessing a stolen gun and silencer, according to U.S. Attorney Deirdre M. Daly.
Roberto Vasquez, 53, of Bridgeport was sentenced to 72 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release by U.S. District Judge Janet C. Hall. According to court documents and statements Vasquez physically and sexually abused an 18-year-old woman while holding a gun and silencer to her head.

In November of 2013, Vasquez had offered an 18-year-old woman to move in with him after she got out of an abusive relationship, according to the U.S. Attorney's office. He later became abusive and the woman left without taking her belongings.
Vasquez then lured the woman back into his apartment, where he choked, punched and raped her while holding a gun and silencer to her head.

The victim reported the abuse to police, who found both the pistol and silencer in his home. Forensic analysis of Vasquez's cell phone revealed a recording of the rape and confirmed the abuse. He pled guilty to the firearms charges on May 3.
