Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim Mulling Statewide Office Run: Reports
BREAKING: Ganim is seeking an exemption from a law that prohibiting those convicted of a felony from receiving campaign grants.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Mayor Joe Ganim's miraculous comeback from a prison term to win a second go around as the city's mayor shocked many, but now it appears he is considering higher aspirations, according to multiple reports including the Connecticut Post.
According to the Post, Ganim has asked state elections officials whether his prior conviction on felony corruption charges would make him ineligible to receive campaign grants. Ganim is currently raising money for re-election as the city's mayor, but admitted Friday that a statewide office run is something he is considering.
According to the Hartford Courant, Ganim's supporters want him to file a lawsuit in state Superior Court to seek financing if he is turned down. Ganim made it clear Friday he has not decided to seek statewide office, but that he may go in that direction.
