Bridgeport Men Charged With Burglarizing Deli In Stratford: Police

Two men were charged with burglarizing a deli in Stratford after attempting to flee from Fairfield and Bridgeport police.

STRATFORD, CT — Two Bridgeport residents were arrested in connection to a burglary at the Pickle Barrel Deli during the overnight hours on Monday, according to police. Paul Thompson, 21, and Josue Rivera-Suarez, 26, were both arrested on Sept. 4, according to Capt. Frank Eannotti.

Eannotti said that at about 2:35 a.m., Thompson, Rivers-Suarez and an unknown third male broke into the deli, located at 1889 Main Street in Stratford, and stole a cash register valued at approximately $900 dollars and a $130 case. The suspects then fled in a gray van.

“Responding officers reviewed surveillance footage and notified surrounding towns,” Eannotti said in a press release. “The pair was taken into custody after a brief attempt to flee from Fairfield and Bridgeport Officers who located the vehicle.”

Thompson and Rivers-Suarez were each charged with third-degree burglary, fourth-degree larceny and possession of burglary tools. Both were held on $20,000 dollar bonds and are scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Court on Sept. 11.
