Bridgeport Now PAC Raises Money To Oppose Mayor Ganim: Report
The Political Action Committee is not yet backing a specific candidate.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — A new Political Action Committee has raised more than $50,000 in an effort to defeat incumbent Mayor Joseph Ganim in next year's election, reported the Connecticut Post.
Bridgeport Now was co-founded by Trumbull resident Raul Laffitte, president of the Cuban Lyceum of Bridgeport, who reportedly once backed Ganim but not anymore. Laffittee said he believes Ganim is moving Bridgeport "backward."
The PAC does not have a specific candidate it is backing yet, but John Gomes, the city's assistant chief administrative officer, is among the names being discussed by the group as a potential candidate, according to the publication.
