Bridgeport PD, UB To Host Domestic Violence Awareness Symposium
The police department and University of Bridgeport will host the free event on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — The Bridgeport Police Department and the University of Bridgeport will host a "Symposium on Domestic Violence and Community Safety" on Tuesday, Oct. 1, organizers announced.
The event will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the John J. Cox Student Center, University of Bridgeport.
"This event is open to the public as well as UB faculty, staff, and students," organizers wrote on Facebook. "Don’t miss presentations by the Center for Family Justice and insights from experts in the field, including Bridgeport Police Chief Roderick Porter. Learn how we can work together to address this pressing issue."

Tuesday's event is part of the Fall Series Collaborative Symposiums, a two-part series designed to strengthen trust and transparency between law enforcement and the Bridgeport community. These symposiums will feature vital discussions on domestic violence and police accountability, allowing open dialogue and community engagement.
"[Tuesday's] session, hosted in collaboration with the Center for Family Justice, will focus on the critical issue of domestic violence," organizers wrote in a statement. "The University of Bridgeport professionals will also present, engaging their students and the community in this important discussion. Expert speakers will cover topics including prevention, intervention, and the resources available to support survivors."
