Bridgeport Resident Charged In Overnight Burglaries: Norwalk Police

Two people were recently arrested on charges connected to overnight burglaries reported in Norwalk, according to police.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Residents of Bridgeport and Greenwich were recently arrested in Trumbull on charges connected to overnight burglaries reported in Norwalk last week, according to police.

In a news release, Norwalk Police Lt. Joe Dinho said an overnight burglary was reported at a Kermit Street home Thursday around 7 a.m.

As police were investigating, they received a complaint from a neighbor who reported their vehicle had been entered and items were taken overnight.

Around 8 a.m., a Rome Street resident reported their vehicle had been entered overnight and items were stolen.

According to Dinho, the resident also reported two suspects tried to enter their home through a back door but were not able to gain entry, as evidenced by a recording on their Ring door camera.

After further investigation, police tracked the suspects to locations in Bridgeport and Trumbull, and they were later arrested in Trumbull, Dinho said.

Officers recovered stolen items from the Norwalk locations, as well as a car reported stolen from Stamford and a handgun reported stolen from Florida, Dinho said.

Dereck Ramirez, 21, of Bridgeport, was charged with second-degree larceny, fourth-degree larceny, stealing a firearm, illegal possession of a pistol/revolver, interfering with a police officer, possession of a large capacity magazine, possession of a stolen credit card and use of a stolen credit card.

Gabriele Collazo 23, of Greenwich, was charged with second-degree larceny, fourth-degree larceny, interfering with a police officer, possession of a stolen credit card and use of a stolen credit card.
