The incident occurred at about 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, following a crash on North Avenue involving a stolen vehicle.

WESTPORT, CT — A trio of suspects were arrested on burglary and larceny charges early Wednesday after they allegedly broke into several unlocked vehicles in the Hazelnut Road/Blue Ribbon Drive neighborhood, according to Westport police.
The incident occurred at about 1:15 a.m. following a crash on North Avenue involving a stolen vehicle, and a fourth suspect may have fled from the area on foot, and Westport police officers continue to have a presence in the area of the crash - between Easton and Coleytown roads - and surrounding neighborhoods.
Officers were initially dispatched to the area after a caller reported the crash and said that the operator of the suspect vehicle fled the scene on foot.

"Arriving officers observed a gray vehicle rolled over on its roof in the roadway," wrote police in a statement. "This vehicle is registered to a Hazelnut Road address in Westport. The second vehicle was on the side of the road with three occupants. The occupants of the second vehicle told Officers that a black male fled the scene of the crash. While Officers were searching the area for the suspect male, they learned the suspect vehicle was stolen out of Hazelnut Road. While on scene with the second vehicle and its occupants, Officers and Detectives observed several GPS units in the vehicle. The occupants gave the Officers consent to check the GPS recent data. One of the unit’s 'Home' address showed a Blue Ribbon Drive address in Westport. Blue Ribbon Drive is in the same neighborhood as Hazelnut Road. Officers confirmed that the GPS unit came from a vehicle on Blue Ribbon Drive. Officers also determined that several other vehicles were entered in the area. Based on this, the three occupants of the second vehicle were taken into custody and transported to Westport Police Headquarters."
Wednesday morning, the police department worked with the Board of Education "to ensure the utmost safety for students and school personnel as there are two schools in the immediate area of the crash."
