Bridgeport Teen Pulled From Housatonic River Has Died: Police
A Bridgeport teenager whom emergency crews police had pulled from the Housatonic River on Thursday has died, police have reported.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — A Bridgeport whom emergency crews police had pulled from the Housatonic River below Silver Bridge on Thursday has died, police have reported.
Newtown police were called to the area near the Southbury town line shortly before 2 p.m. First responders learned that the teen, who had been with a group of youths, had gone under the water beneath the bridge and not resurfaced.
Several Newtown police officers searched for the 17-year-old under the surface of the water, and were able to locate and recover the youth from under the water.

Once on shore, the juvenile was transported to Danbury Hospital, where the Bridgeport resident died Friday morning.
Police have not publicly identified the teen.
