Bridgeport Woman Arrested on Multiple Charges After Hit-and-Run: Newtown Police

Police say they stopped the woman while she was trying to travel out of town.

NEWTOWN, CT — A Bridgeport woman was arrested by Newtown Police just before she was able to make it out of town following a hit and run in town on Feb. 1, according to Newtown Police.

Ebony Brown, 22, of Bridgeport was charged with evading responsibility, operating a vehicle while using a handheld device, distracted driving, unsafe passing, failure to drive a reasonable distance apart and operating a vehicle without a valid operator license. Police say that Brown rear-ended a vehicle on South Main Street in Newtown and quickly left the scene.

Police say that a Newtown man had been driving south in the area of 43 South Main Street when he slowed in traffic. At that time, Brown's vehicle rear-ended him and fled the scene immediately.

Brown's vehicle was stopped on South Main Street while she was attempting to leave town, police say. She was released on $250 cash bond and will appear in Danbury District Court on Feb. 15.
