GO GREEN AT CONNECTICUT’S BEARDSLEY ZOO’S PARTY FOR THE PLANET ON EARTH DAY
Bridgeport, CT – Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo invites the community to celebrate Earth Day at its annual Party for the Planet, a lively day of wildlife, conservation, and environmental learning. On Saturday, April 25, from 9am - 3pm, guests can explore interactive activities, meet community partners, and discover simple ways to make a significant difference for the planet.
Event Highlights:
Beardsley Park Community Cleanup: Volunteers will kick off the day by helping beautify Beardsley Park and the waterfront during a community cleanup from 9 am - 12 pm.
DIY Seed Ball Station: Visitors can create their own seed balls using a special mix of soil, seeds, and clay. These seed balls can be planted at home to support pollinators and promote healthy backyard ecosystems.
Energy in Action Mobile Interactive Exhibit: Presented by Energize Connecticut in partnership with Avangrid, this mobile exhibit offers hands-on experiments and interactive demonstrations that teach visitors how energy efficiency and renewable energy can help create a more sustainable future.
One River School of Art & Design Collaboration
One River School of Art & Design will highlight the creative use of recycled materials in students’ artwork and invite guests to contribute to a hands-on, conservation-focused community art project.
Wolf Conservation Center
The Wolf Conservation Center of South Salem, NY will host an educational table featuring interactive displays, hands-on activities, and resources that highlight their work in wolf conservation and advocacy.
The event will also feature Tesla brining interactive activations and offering guests the opportunity to experience test drives.
The Zoo also thanks AVANGRID and Greater Bridgeport Transit (GBT), the Party for the Planet conservation sponsors, who will be onsite sharing information and resources with visitors.
“Party for the Planet is a celebration of the role each of us can play in protecting wildlife and our environment,” said Dr. Jim Wharton, CEO of Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo. “Through fun activities and community partnerships, we hope to inspire visitors to take meaningful steps toward conservation in their daily lives.”
The event and activities are free with Zoo admission and reflect Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo’s ongoing commitment to conservation, sustainability, and education. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about environmental initiatives while enjoying a memorable day at the Zoo.
