Convicted Rapist Lied On Asylum Application: Indictment
A Congolese national last residing in Bridgeport was indicted on immigration fraud.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — A Congolese national who was last residing in Bridgeport was indicted on federal asylum fraud charges after it was discovered he had used a fake name on his application and that he had a rape conviction in the United Kingdom, according to the indictment.
Kaseba Katambwa aka “Patrick Ndaya Katambwa,” “Katambwa Patrick Ndaya,” and “Patrick Katambwa Ndaya,” 50, is alleged to have lied on an asylum application by writing that he was a resident of the Democratic Republic of Congo from 1969 to January 2018. He had lived in the U.K. for a number of years between those dates, according to the indictment.
He was also convicted in the U.K. for rape, entering into an arrangement to facilitate the acquisition or use of criminal property, and dishonestly retaining a wrongful credit.

Katambwa was arrested Feb. 1, 2019. He has pleaded not guilty. He faces up to 10 years in federal prison if convicted.
