Details Released In Killing Of Boy, 12, In Bridgeport

An 18-year-old and three juveniles were arrested after a 12-year-old was shot and killed in Bridgeport.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 16-year-old was arraigned on murder conspiracy charges in the killing of 12-year-old Clinton Howell.

Tajay Chambers, 18, Alexander Bolanos, 16, along with a 14-year-old and 12-year-old were arrested on several criminal charges after Howell was shot near his home. Chambers told police he didn't know Howell was 12-years-old, according to the Connecticut Post.

Bolanos was arraigned Wednesday, Chambers is expected to be arraigned today and the 14 and 12-year-olds will be processed through the juvenile system.

Clinton was with his older cousin who was in a dispute over Facebook and Snapchat with Bolanos, who he never met in real life, police said. An SUV passed three times on Willow Street Dec. 18and the cousin fired a pellet gun at it. Chambers then fired a pistol and hit Clinton, according to police.

Police had previously said they believed Clinton wasn't the intended target of the shooting. He had gone to a nearby convenience store to pick up snacks with his older cousin. Family, friends and teachers recalled that he was well-liked by all and enjoyed playing video games, riding his bike and spending time with family members.

Chambers is charged with murder with special circumstances, murder, use of a firearm during a felony, illegal possession of a pistol without a permit, risk of injury to a child, second-degree larceny and first-degree reckless endangerment.

The others were charged with conspiracy to commit murder, carrying a pistol without a permit and second-degree larceny.
