LETS'make believe that it is 1958 again and you want to see a movie.TODAY there is hundreds of movies on television but BACK IN THE DAY that wasn't so.TV in its'infancy did not offer much to us.Returning BACK IN THE DAY CIRCA 1958 movie houses were plentiful. Some movie houses were downtown while others were scattered about the city.SEE if these movie shows ring a bell.Lets'begin downtown on MAIN STREET with the LOEWS POLI/THE MAJESTIC/THE LYRIC/THE STRAND/THE GLOBE/.ON STATE ST.was the WARNER THEATER/ON FAIRFIELD AVE.was the RIVOLI .THE HIGHWAY THEATER on BOSTON AVE,/THE BEVERLY in BLACK ROCK/THE RIALTO on NORTH MAIN ST. and the MERRITT THEATER and lets remember THE ASTOR/THE HIPPODROME and the BARNUM THEATER.ALL these places have faded with time.ALL these places are relative to BRIDGEPORTS'HISTORY.ALL these places are now''GONE WITH THE WIND''
