Downtown Cabaret Theatre In Bridgeport To Close: Report
The theater on Golden Hill Street has been a fixture in Bridgeport for 50 years.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — The Downtown Cabaret Theatre in Bridgeport, which has been in operation for 50 years, is set to close this summer, the Connecticut Post reported.
According to Director Hugh Hallinan, whose family has run the Golden Hill Street theater since 1980, the 250-seat venue reportedly cannot afford its $120,000 annual rent.
The theater is slated to close following the June 28 conclusion of the production of A Chorus Line, News 12 Connecticut reported.

New York City-based Kiumarz Geula’s Pillar Property Management reportedly owns the building, in addition to several others in downtown Bridgeport, and he said he intends to speak with Hallinan about the situation.
Geula reportedly wants the site to remain a performing arts facility.
