Failure To Pay Taxes On Embezzled Income Leads Owner To Prison
A grocery store owner embezzled cash into his bank account, but didn't pay taxes on it, which got him in trouble.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A Bridgeport grocery store owner was sentenced to three months in prison followed by three months of home confinement for filing false tax returns.
Samir Fattah, 55, of Oxford jointly owned Abu-Goush Market with his father. He Embezzled about $213,000 by depositing cash into his personal bank account, according to the U.S. Attorney District of Connecticut office.
He didn't pay taxes on the embezzled income. He paid $54,000 in back taxes and penalties as part of his sentence. He pleaded guilty to filing a false tax return. To sign up for Bridgeport breaking news alerts and more, click here.
