Fake 'Swatting' Incident Reported At Bridgeport's Harding High School

The incident occurred on Friday morning, and Bridgeport police said it was a false alarm.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A report of an active shooter at Harding High School in Bridgeport Friday morning was deemed to be a hoax by police, one of several similar fake reports at schools throughout the region, according to authorities.

Details about the incident — referred to as "Swatting" — were not immediately available, but Bridgeport police had the scene cleared by 10 a.m.

"These swatting calls are happening all over the state and country," Bridgeport authorities wrote on Twitter (see below).

Schools in both Stamford and Westport reported similar false swatting reports.

"All necessary precautions were taken and in an abundance of caution, Stamford police made the decision to lock down all Stamford Public schools until the threat was vetted," Stamford city officials said in a statement. "Stamford police determined that the report was a hoax."
