Former Bridgeport Cop Sexually Assaulted Woman At Trumbull Mall: PD

It's the second time the retired police officer has been arrested for sexual assault.

TRUMBULL, CT — A retired Bridgeport Police officer was charged with sexual assault at the Trumbull mall, according to police.

Garfield Burns, 62, of Bridgeport was arrested Oct. 19 after he turned himself in to police on an active warrant.

Burns went to the Brookstone store in the mall Sept. 11 where he was a regular customer. He grabbed an employee's hand, kissed it and said she was delicious, police said. Later on he kissed the woman's breasts. She reported the incident to the manager who reported it to police.

Video of the incident corroborated the employee's statement, police said.

Burns was charged with fourth-degree sexual assault and second-degree breach of peace.

It's the second time Burns has been accused of sexually assaulting a female store employee. In November 2011 he was arrested after he reportedly sexually assaulted a female employee at the Stratford Walmart, according to the Connecticut Post. He was granted accelerated rehabilitation for the incident.

Another employee told police that Burns said he wanted to drink the female employee's bathwater.
