Fourth Town Joins Lawsuit Against Bridgeport Over Magnet Schools: Report

Bridgeport is the only city allowed to charge other communities for magnet school tuition, and towns have begun to fight against the fees.

MONROE, CT — Joining forces with Fairfield, Trumbull and Stratford; the Monroe Board of Education is joining a lawsuit against Bridgeport's Board of Education over magnet school tuition, reports the Monroe Courier.

Superintendent Jim Agonstine says that Bridgeport is the only city in Connecticut charging towns for students to attend Magnet schools. According to a report from the Connecticut Post, Bridgeport is attempting to collect around $3,000 per student from 18 nearby school districts.
