Ganim Pushes For New Bridgeport Train Station

The east side train station project was delayed after the state couldn't come up with financing for the project.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Mayor Joe Ganim and state legislators from Bridgeport are pushing for the completion of the proposed Barnum train station on the east side of the city. The state Department of Transportation under former Gov. Dan Malloy postponed the project due to an inability to secure financing.

"“Having a high-speed rail station in Bridgeport is essential to making Governor Lamont’s vision of 30-minute rail travel between New Haven and Stamford become a reality,” Ganim said. “The Governor made a very strong statement the day he was inaugurated about investing in rail travel to improve Connecticut’s transportation infrastructure."

Ganim went on to say that the city has invested millions into the area in anticipation of the new station.
