INDIANS were here before the white man.Many tribes lived in CONNECTICUT back in the day.There were the PEQUOT,NIANTIC,NIOMUC,,MATTABESIC,SCHAGHTICOKE,PAUGUSSETT,as well as many others.Each tribe had its' own leadership.America was flooded with indian tribes of all kinds.They indeed were here first way before white settlers came to be.The study of the AMERICAN INDIAN is so interesting and the cultural backgrounds are fascinating.
