Man Accused Of Murdering Wife Declines Plea Deal

He declined a plea deal and faces more than 100 years in prison if convicted.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A previously deported man charged with killing his girlfriend, stabbing her friend and taking his daughter after a dispute rejected a plea deal that called for 50 years in prison.

Oscar Hernandez fatally stabbed his estranged wife Nidia Gonzalez, 26, of Bridgeport in her apartment, police said. Her friend was taken to the hospital with serious stabbing wounds.

Hernandez faces more than 100 years in prison if convicted on all charges, according to the Connecticut Post.

An Amber Alert was issued for his child and Pennsylvania State Police apprehended him after a chase.

Hernandez has a prior felony conviction for assault and was deported in 2013.
