Man Sentenced To 75 Years For Bridgeport Murder

The man stabbed his girlfriend to death, seriously stabbed her friend and took his daughter, which set off an Amber Alert.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A man who illegally re-entered the country was sentenced to 75 years in prison for stabbing his girlfriend to death and severely injuring her friend.

Oscar Hernandez, 41, stabbed his girlfriend Nidia Gonzalez, 36, in her Bridgeport apartment in February 2017. Her friend Brenda Castellanos was also stabbed and critically injured.

Hernandez then took his 6-year-old daughter, which set off a multi-state Amber Alert which ended in Pennsylvania after a crash. His daughter was safely brought back to Connecticut.

Hernandez said he was an innocent man during his court sentencing and blamed his lawyer, judge and the criminal justice system for the outcome. He was found guilty in a jury trial, according to the Connecticut Post.

Hernandez was previously deported to El Salvador after he choked an ex-wife.
