Man Who Died After Crashing Into Sports Arena Identified: UPDATE

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Wagner Mendez, 31, of Stamford has been identified as the person who died after crashing his vehicle into Webster Bank Arena at 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, according to the Connecticut Post.

According to reports, Mendez was speeding at the time of the accident when his car crashed into the arena. The car then turned over and Mendez was thrown from the vehicle and trapped underneath it, while the vehicle burst into flames, the Post reports.

Emergency responders were able to quickly get to Mendez and take him to the hospital but he would later die as a result of his injuries.
