BRIDGEPORT, CT — The 27-year-old suspect already in custody following a kidnapping arrest in Bridgeport last week has been charged with attempted murder in connection with two separate stabbings, according to Bridgeport police.

Nicholas Allwood was arraigned at Bridgeport Superior Court on charges of criminal attempt to commit murder, two counts of first-degree assault, and two counts of carrying a dangerous weapon.

Bridgeport Police Det. Jeffrey Holtz said in a statement that Allwood stabbed the same male victim twice, first on February 10 at the intersection of Iranistan Avenue and State Street, and again on April 30 on Hanover Street — just hours before he was arrested in an unrelated kidnapping case. The victim, a Bridgeport resident, sustained serious injuries in both attacks, authorities said. A motive has not been disclosed.

Det. Elizabeth Santora of the department’s Homicide Unit led the investigation that resulted in the new charges.

Allwood was taken into custody April 30 after a manhunt involving Bridgeport detectives, local task force officers, and the FBI. Authorities had been searching for Allwood when the second stabbing occurred. Police later tracked him to a residence on Gregory Street, where a woman ran from the home as officers approached, allegedly pursued by Allwood, who was armed with a knife. He was quickly subdued and arrested. Police said they were not aware the woman had been held against her will.

Allwood, who police said has used aliases and goes by the nickname “Hot Head,” had previously been shot on Gregory Street on Easter Sunday, according to Holtz. Investigators, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service, later confirmed his identity and learned he had felony warrants in multiple states.

In connection with the April 30 incident, Allwood faces additional charges including kidnapping, assaulting a police officer, assault, reckless endangerment, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, and weapons offenses.

Allwood remains in custody at Bridgeport Correctional Center in lieu of bail of $2 million, and is next scheduled to appear in court on May 20.
