New York Man Found Guilty Of Fentanyl, Cocaine Dealing In Bridgeport

The defendant was found in possession of kilos of a substance containing fentanyl, cocaine and heroin, according to federal prosecutors.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 52-year-old Bronx, New York, man was found guilty in federal court this week of fentanyl and cocaine distribution offenses that occurred in Bridgeport, according to United States Attorney Vanessa Roberts Avery.

Leonardo Hector Rosado was found guilty Thursday during a jury trial before U.S. District Judge Alvin W. Thompson in Hartford. The trial began on Feb. 17, and the jury returned guilty verdicts on all counts of a three-count superseding indictment:

  • Two counts of possession with intent to distribute and distribution of 400 grams or more of fentanyl
  • One count of possession with intent to distribute and distribution of 500 grams or more of cocaine

According to court documents and statements, in April 2021, members of the FBI’s Bridgeport Safe Streets Task Force and Bridgeport Police Department coordinated the acquisition of a kilogram of heroin from Rosado.

On April 13, 2021, Rosado drove from the Bronx to a meeting location in Bridgeport where he nearly a kilogram of a substance containing fentanyl, heroin and cocaine, and another small bag containing more than four grams of fentanyl.

Rosado was arrested on May 16, 2021, after he drove to a location in Bridgeport to conduct another narcotics transaction, and during a search of his car, authorities found nearly three kilograms of a substance containing fentanyl, heroin and cocaine, and an additional 983 grams of cocaine.

Judge Thompson scheduled sentencing for May 18, at which time Rosado faces a mandatory minimum prison term of 10 years, and a maximum term of life in prison.

Rosado has been detained since his arrest.

This matter has been investigated by the FBI’s Bridgeport Safe Streets Task Force and the Bridgeport Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Tara E. Levens and Daniel E. Cummings.
