Pedestrian, 74, Killed While Crossing Street In Bridgeport: Police
The crash occurred near the intersection of Fairfield Avenue and Broad Street.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 74-year-old Bridgeport woman died from her injuries Tuesday after she was struck by a car while she was crossing a street in Bridgeport, according to police.
Alma Willis suffered "lower extremity trauma, and a head injury" in the 4:30 p.m. crash, which occurred near the intersection of Fairfield Avenue and Broad Street. She was coherent when taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center, where she later died.
"The Bridgeport Police Department’s thoughts and prayers are with Alma Willis’ family and friends," said Sgt. Darryl Wilson of the department's Traffic Division.

Police had been called to the scene of the crash by citizens who saw Willis in the road, not moving, following the crash.
She was struck by a 2018 Acura IIX, driven by a 37-year-old Norwalk woman, who remained at the scene after the crash.

The identity of the driver was not released by Bridgeport police, and whether she will face charges in connection with the crash was not disclosed. Wilson said the car's windshield was smashed on the passenger side in the crash.
Wilson said the Acura was traveling west on Fairfield Avenue when it struck Willis, who was crossing the street near the intersection at Broad Street.
The crash is being investigated by Officer T. Gallbronner and Officer E. Quiles, according to Wilson, and anyone with information about it is requested to contact Gallbronner at 475-422-3247 or Quiles at 475-422-6146.
