Police Identify Pedestrian, 70, Who Died After Bridgeport Crash
The crash occurred Saturday night, according to authorities.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — Seventy-year-old Bridgeport resident Curtis Smith has been identified as the victim in a fatal pedestrian crash in Bridgeport over the weekend.
Smith, a pedestrian, was struck by a 2012 Lexus SUV at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, near the intersection of Capitol and Parrott avenues, according to police. He passed away early Sunday morning at St. Vincent’s Hospital, and his next of kin have been notified.
According to police, medics and Bridgeport Firefighters responded to the accident scene following the crash, where they rendered medical aid and quickly transported him to the hospital.

"When Officers arrived at the scene, they observed the pedestrian lying in the eastbound lane of Capitol Avenue just east of its intersection with Parrott Avenue," wrote Bridgeport Police Capt. Kevin Gilleran in a statement. "The operator of the Lexus, later identified as a 62-year-old Hempstead, NY resident, remained on location and is cooperating with police. He was uninjured."
The crash temporarily closed the road, and the investigation remains active. Police ask that anyone with additional information the department's Traffic Division (Officer Andrew Orum) at 203-576-7640.
