The mother doesn’t have a vehicle and had no other means to have the children picked up since the train was how they were supposed to get home, according to police.
Police said the officers took it upon themselves to call Metro Taxi and to pay the $35 charge for the children to return home.
“Actions taken by these officers during the course of this incident represent what we as police officers do to serve the public and protect our youth,”Sgt. Joseph D’Amato wrote to Lt. Robert Urrata in the performance notice. “The actions of Officers T. Healey and Jordan reflect well on this department and law enforcement as a whole.”
