Police Search For Leads In Bridgeport Shooting

The victim suffered a gunshot wound that is not considered to be a threat to his life, according to Bridgeport police.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 20-year-old Bridgeport man suffered a shoulder injury in a Tuesday evening shooting on Pequonnock Street in Bridgeport, and police are asking for the public's help in finding the culprits.

The shooting occurred at about 6:20 p.m. between Harral Avenue and Vine Street in the densely populated neighborhood called The Hollow, and Bridgeport police were notified of the shooting via a ShotSpotter alert. ShotSpotter is a gunshot detection system.

Officers found the victim, and medics transported him to an area hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

"The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was targeted," wrote Bridgeport Police Capt. Kevin Gilleran in a statement. "The victim was approached on foot by two armed suspects wearing all black clothing (no further descriptions at this time). Both suspects shot multiple rounds at the victim and then fled the area on foot."

Detectives have collected evidence from the area, and conducted interviews. The investigation remains active.

"The Bridgeport Police Department is asking for your help in solving this crime," Gilleran said. "Anyone with information is asked to contact the case officer, Detective Migdalia Ayala, at 203-581-5259."
