Huntly Jackson, 45, faces multiple charges after authorities said he stabbed a police officer multiple times with a knife.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A Bridgeport man was shot by police early Saturday after authorities said he stabbed an officer multiple times with a knife, according to reports.
Bridgeport police responded to the 100 block of Terry Place after receiving a report of an emotionally disturbed person, NBC Connecticut reported. When officers arrived, they found 45-year-old Huntly Jackson armed with a knife.
According to a WFSB report, Jackson used the knife to stab an officer several times in the shoulder, neck, and head, prompting police to open fire.

It's unclear how many officers fired their weapons.
Jackson and the officer were taken to Saint Vincent’s Hospital, where Jackson remains in critical condition, WFSB reported. The officer was treated and released.

Jackson faces multiple charges including criminal attempted murder, first-degree assault, assault on a public safety officer and resisting arrest. His bond was set at $1 million, reports said.
