Primary To Decide Democratic Mayoral Nominee In Bridgeport

Incumbent Mayor Joseph Ganim is being challenged by three candidates in the Sept. 12 primary, Lamond Daniels, Marilyn Moore and John Gomes.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Registered Democrats in Bridgeport have a choice in the Sept. 12 primary between four candidates to become the party's nominee for mayor.

Incumbent Mayor Joseph Ganim, who is seeking his third consecutive term, is being challenged in the primary by:

  • Lamond Daniels, 30-year resident, and currently Chief of Community Services for the City of Norwalk
  • John Gomes, 40-year resident, and business owner, who is the former acting Chief Administrative Officer in the Ganim administration
  • Marilyn Moore, lifelong resident, and a five-term state Senator representing Trumbull and parts of Bridgeport and Monroe

The winner will face Republican candidate David Herz, an attorney.

Polls open at 6 a.m. on the 12th and close at 8 p.m.; to find a polling site, click here.

The deadline to register to vote is Sept. 11, according to the Bridgeport Registrar of Voters office.
