State Troopers In Bridgeport Following Shootings

State police will have a presence in Bridgeport following a recent uptick in violence.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — State police are increasing their presence in Bridgeport following an uptick in violence and several shootings, according to FOX 61. Two troopers will be doing foot patrols in the city.

Police said that the goal of bringing in troopers was for visibility, not to make arrests.

In one incident Thursday evening, four victims were struck by gunfire in front of 527 Huntington Tyler Ballew, 21, of Bridgeport was struck in the head and collapsed at the scene. He was transported by medics to Bridgeport Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

The three other victims were transported to Bridgeport Hospital and treated for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
