Tenants Hospitalized, Including Infant, In Bridgeport Apartment Fire

The fire on Wood Avenue and Norman Street was reported early Monday.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Two adults and an infant were hospitalized Monday following an apartment fire at the intersection of Wood Avenue and Norman Street in Bridgeport, according to officials.

A total of six people have been temporarily displaced by the fire, which was reported at about 3:15 a.m.

The three taken to the hospital were suffering from smoke inhalation, said Scott Appleby, the city's director of Emergency Management.

The fire was contained to one of the second-floor apartments, which are above commercial businesses.

News 12 Connecticut reported that the building's three other apartments sustained smoke damage, and the businesses downstairs had water damage from the incident.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
